This summer has been one of the best to date so far! It's been one adventure after another....getting a little ridiculous as I'm never home...my room feels so foreign to me!
This past week I spent some time in Sisters, OR with the family. Dad's birthday is coming up, so the family got together at a rental house and proceeded to have a BLAST. We tapped the keg, played a TON of poker, fought over who was cheating, played charades, fought over who put in 'dumb' phrases to act out, hiked the South Sister, fought over who had the worst time hiking it....rafted the "big eddy", in turn - epic water fight. My boyfriend, Noah, braved the chaos and came for an evening to meet the fam.........naturally we forced him to play charades and be sure to always bow down to my father. "If he is standing - you are sitting...if he is sitting - you are laying on the ground!", and other various rules to obey in his presence. - all in all it was a ridiculous time. We got bug bitten and became sad....we found benedryl spray and regained ELATION! We laughed til we cried (or peed...whichever came first), ate til we couldn't eat another bite (unless someone brought that chocolate cake back out)...and just enjoyed each others' company.
Here are some pictures.......
SISTAS!
Oh yeah.....someone decided this would be a good idea? I'd also like to point out that as a globophobic (someone who is terrified of balloons)...water balloons are not scary. They are filled with water...so when their inevitable explosions occur, it's funny - not frightening. You are now soaked. HA!
Before the chaos...
RUN!
GOTCHA!
Maxen got hit a LOT...
But he liked it......
Traditional Eastern Oregon activities.....biking around....usually with beer in hand....
Ascending "Charity" - aka the South Sister.
About 30 seconds into the hike....our wonderful father fell into the river riiight here whilst attempting to demonstrate the proper way to cross. He recovered just fine and trooped up the mountain with no further injuries....but it made for an exciting start.
View.....
Yep....it was beauuuutiful.
Dad determined to keep hiking!
Yeah...not the best pic of me - but look at the pretty view behind!
This is the highest "lake" in Oregon. Teardrop pool at 10213 ft. We made it to here and decided it was too late to keep going. The summit was less than a mile away though!
This was our attempt at timing a picture....I think this is the best one....
Oops......not quite. Sorry Kelly!
Over here Laura. Cool view of Broken Top though!
Nicely done. She only used her inhaler once, but was deemed "Little Piggy" as she continued to eat all our food!
You made it Kelly!
She then decided she wanted to 'ski' back down...
Yeaaaah....once she went down she stayed like this forever. "It feels so cool and nice!"
Laura tried too.....nice socks.
We made it to the top!! Sorta!!
Yeah............after the hike (10+ miles round trip), we went home and had a v.e.r.y. silly time. Nice Kelly. Wear it proud....
Yep. Jimmy being silly.
Noah took us to this place on our way home. Blue pool...feeding in to the McKenzie River. Freakin amazing!!! Beautiful/easy hike! Highly recommend!
In other news.....HOOD TO COAST IS NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!
This is Candace and I in 2009. Lets do a repeat photo!!!!! :)
K that's all for now - gotta quit blogging and head to the market! Love you!
